"Volunteering as an Agricultural Mentor with Busula Agri Foundation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Seeing the children's faces light up when they harvest their first vegetables is priceless. I've learned as much from them as they have from me."

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about volunteering with Busula Agri Foundation

The minimum time commitment varies by role. Most positions require at least 5 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. However, we also offer flexible and event-based opportunities for those with limited availability. We work with volunteers to find a schedule that fits their life while still making a meaningful contribution.

All volunteers receive a comprehensive orientation to our organization and specific training for their role. Ongoing support is provided through regular check-ins with volunteer coordinators, access to resources and materials, and opportunities for additional skill development. We're committed to ensuring our volunteers feel prepared and supported throughout their service.

Most volunteer positions require volunteers to be at least 18 years old. However, we do offer family and youth volunteer opportunities for those aged 14-17 with parental consent and supervision. These opportunities are designed to be age-appropriate and educational while still making a meaningful contribution to our mission.

The safety of the children and communities we serve is our top priority. Background checks are required for all volunteers who will work directly with children or handle sensitive information. This is standard practice for organizations working with vulnerable populations. The background check process is simple, confidential, and typically completed within 3-5 business days.

Yes, we offer several remote volunteer opportunities that can be performed from anywhere in the world, including grant writing, social media management, graphic design, and research. These positions allow international supporters to contribute their skills to our mission without needing to be physically present in Kenya. We use various digital tools to facilitate communication and collaboration with our remote volunteers.

There are no fees to volunteer with us. However, volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from volunteer sites. For international volunteers coming to Kenya, we can provide guidance on accommodation and local transportation, but these costs would be the volunteer's responsibility. Some volunteer positions may require specific equipment or materials, which we try to provide whenever possible.
